WHERE DO I SEE MY COLLEGE EDUCATION WILL TAKE ME, 10 YEARS FROM NOW?

“One of the most common causes of failure is the habit of quitting when one is overtaken by temporary defeat.”   - Napoleon Hill

Assignments, quizzes, reaction papers, tests, deadlines – A life for a college student. Almost all of us complains about how difficult it is to be student especially when sometimes, we lost our social life just to cope with the requirements needed for us to finish a college degree. After that, the day that we’ve been waiting for, in about 4 years or more to others, came. We’ll put on that black robe we’ve been longing to wear since and on our hand is the proof of those long days of hard work.  But now the question is, where would that take you?

Ever since, I always tell myself that after graduating from college, I will work for 2 consecutive years in the Philippines for experience and after that, I will try my luck abroad. My course was about information management, so with proper training and skills that I’m hoping to acquire, I know it would take me a long, long way.  In five years, maybe I was still working my a** off in the other country, hoping for a stable job and a higher position after 1 year or more. But if you’re going to ask me about where I would be after 10 years, I would be back on this country, taking care of my son, which is already a teenage boy that time. Maybe you’ll think I’m a nut for giving up everything after all those years but my reason is simple, everything I do, I do it for my kid. Ten years from now would be the year of his puberty where he needs me the most and I would love to be there for him.

For me, I could not really tell where my college degree would take me. I could not say that I will be that or this, but I was hoping that wherever my college degree takes me, it is something I love doing so it will not feel that I’m working. I do not want to wake up someday regretting that I should have taken a different path, but rather, I would like it to feel that what I have chosen to do was the right thing for me.
